Bloodstone (also called Heliotrope) is a variety of chalcedony quartz — dark green with red spots caused by iron oxide (hematite) inclusions. It's found primarily in India, Brazil, and Australia. Ancient Egyptians used Bloodstone to defeat enemies and open locked doors. Medieval Christians called it the "Martyr's Stone" and believed the red spots were the blood of Christ. It's been used in amulets, seals, and healing tools across virtually every ancient culture.
