About the Stone

Pink Opal is a common opal — hydrated silica, opaque to translucent, without the play-of-colour of precious opal. Much of it comes from Peru. Opalite, by contrast, is not opal at all.

Care

Opal can craze — fine internal cracks — with heat, strong light or dryness, so keep it out of prolonged direct sun and dry heat, and away from ultrasonic cleaners. Cleanse it with sage or moonlight.
